This Week’s AI News
The Week’s Top News: GPT-6.
This past week, we saw the launch of big models from Anthropic (Fable 5.1), OpenAI (GPT-6), Meta (Muse Spark 1.3), and Google (3.8 Flash).
Today, Greg Brockman even declared that AGI is here, with OpenAI’s rollout of GPT-6 (not available to the public yet).
So the big question is:
Is GPT-6 better than what Anthropic provides?
The answer seems to be no. The big focus of GPT-6 (codename: Astra) was coding, and the Artificial Analysis Coding Agent Index puts it behind:
So the story continues - Anthropic owns the best coding models. The big surprise is where the other players are. Google is not the company with the next best model! It’s not OpenAI, either. That Meta! With its newly released Muse Spark 1.3.

Meanwhile, Google launched 3.8 Flash, which shows how they have focused on the cost efficient frontier over the real frontier. Ahead of Google still sits xAI, with their latest Grok 4.6 model.
OpenAI may have the most powerful model in areas outside coding, like scientific discovery. Here’s the benchmark card they shared today:
But this needs to be verified, and they haven’t rolled the model out publicly. For now, I’d say the big takeaway is:
OpenAI teased they might be on top, but they probably aren’t (yet again).
The Other News that Mattered
Nvidia acquired Hugging Face for $ 12.9B which famously let you use/download your AI models for free. This seems very logical for them as all the opensource models are downloaded, trained, finetuned and served on Nvidia GPUs itself.
OpenAI built its first chip and it might beat Nvidia on cost per flop. It took just 16 months to release it while most chips normally take 3-4 years.
Fal’s H3 Max makes video faster than you can watch! A 5-second clip with sound is created in under 3 seconds. This is a breakthrough for AI video.
Feature Releases
Claude Code added /resume to its desktop app, so you can pick up any terminal session right from where you left it.
Glean launched its desktop workspace, an automatic model picking router, an AI gateway and agents that act before you ask in their latest product release.
Tools
Anthropic’s new hardware standard lets agents run real lab equipment, like robotic arms and microscopes..so basically your AI just got hands. They are planning to make it opensource just like MCP.
Keenable launched a search engine built for AI agents, not for people clicking links.

Omarchy: The First OS Built for Agents.
I’ve been on Mac for 15 years without a single complaint. I was forced to use Windows for a while at Epic Games and it was a pain. The only OS that gives you real control is Linux, but for me the Apple ecosystem is gravitational.
However, to venture out, I spent a week on Omarchy. And I get the hype now. So that’s today’s deep dive.

My take on Omarchy
1. What IS Omarchy
Omarchy is a free OS (from the creator of Rails) which is designed for an AI agent to run alongside you and not just for you to click through all of its actions.
3 things set it apart for me from a traditional OS (which makes it agent OS friendly):
Every setting lives in a plain .md that any agent can read
Every major AI coding assistant comes pre-installed
Any app crashes or OS failures get handed over to your agent automatically, without human troubleshooting.
On a Mac, your agent will use to click around a locked box. Omarchy edits the computer directly.
Omarchy raised $10M from Shopify’s Lütke, Twitter’s Jack Dorsey, and Dropbox’s Drew Houston. That goes to show the credibility of the founder and urged me to try it out.
2. How to test this thing
A real challenge with testing an OS is how do you do it without partitioning?
Mac: A developer on twitter built Try Omarchy, which is a free app that runs the whole OS in a window on Apple Silicon.
Linux: If you run bare Arch, you simply need to run
wget -qO- https://omarchy.org/install | bashWindows: Refer to the official guide and shrink the volume in the Disk Management settings, then pick “Free space install” in the Omarchy Installer. Turn off BitLocker first (Settings > Privacy & Security > Device Encryption)
Learn this exact one shortcut Super +K. It opens a searchable map of every other shortcut, so you never have to memorize any shortcuts, rather just search’em.
3. What it’s actually good for (real usecases)

I’ve hated the Notification Center’s behavior on my Mac for years.
On Omarchy, I asked it:
omarchy-snapshot basically snapshots your whole system so that the change is reversible if anything goes wrong. The answer that did not exist in any settings on Mac, just got built on its own without me having to spend time figuring out how can it be done.
Some other use cases from actual builders not hobbyists:

4. How to start building your Agent OS today
Here is the exact order in which you can start building your agent OS:
Pick your default agent immediately as you setup Omarchy from Setup > Defaults > Agent
Given it can be overwhelming to set up a whole OS yourself, find one annoyance you have been bearing with your OS for years (mine was the notifications issue)
Write it as a prompt and let the agent fix it itself
Start version controlling every ask you give the agent. Otherwise you both lose track of what changed on the machine
Set up the local models for the agents. Install > AI and pick LM Studio or Ollama and point your agent to use it
It comes packaged out of the box with a lot of agents (you don’t have to download ChatGPT, Claude etc)
Once you become a pro, start using multiple workspaces and toggle between them
Omarchy currently has a very active Discord community. Definitely join it.

5. My Take on Omarchy
Is this the next tool that everyone needs to suddenly adopt? No, and that’s because it’s an OS. Personally, Omarchy isn’t pulling me off my Mac yet. The Mac ecosystem has a magical glue to it.
That all can be true and… Omarchy was the most fun I’ve had on my computer for years. And, from a product POV, it shows a clear preview on how a computer shapes your agents around you in plain English.

As an Indian financial planner, I see Omarchy-like agents automating the drudgery of gathering bank statements and insurance documents from clients. That could cut my data collection time in half.
But the real shift will be in trust — clients will start asking why they need a human advisor when an agent can run projections. Advisors who don't wrap their advice in judgment and behavioural coaching will be replaced.
